Pool Rules

Mountainbrook Swim and Racquet Club Rules

Updated Summer 2025

 

Club staff including the Pool Manager,  lifeguards, tennis pros, and snack bar attendants have the authority to enforce these rules.

 

General

  • During inclement weather, the pool may be closed at the discretion of the Pool Manger through consultation with the Pool Management Company and Board.
  • Abusive or objectionable language is not permitted on Club property.
  • Smoking or vaping is not permitted on Club property.
  • All pets must be on leash at all times and owners must clean-up after pets.  Pets are not permitted in the pool area or on tennis courts.
  • Trash shall be disposed of in trash containers.  Members creating more trash than can be accommodated by containers should dispose of the trash in the dumpsters in the parking lot.  The snack bar attendants can provide trash bags in this occurrence.

Pool Area

  • Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian while at the pool. The parent/guardian should be present at all times and observant of their children’s whereabouts.
  • The ultimate responsibility of pool safety lies with the parent/guardian.
  • Parents/guardians shall be responsible for children brought into the pool area who cannot swim.
  • Running, rough or boisterous conduct will not be tolerated. Persons violating this rule will be first warned by Club staff with the possibility of being removed from Club facilities as part of a second notice in the same day.
  • Members and guests are not to engage in conversations with the lifeguards while they are on duty.
  • Glass and ceramic containers of any kind are not allowed in the pool area. Broken glass in the pool area may result in state mandated pool closure and clean-up. The cost of the closure and clean-up expense may be charged to the member.
  • Alcoholic beverages are prohibited except when specifically allowed at Club sponsored events.
  • The cost of any property damage due to negligence or vandalism will be charged to the responsible member.
  • Unauthorized persons are not permitted in pool operation buildings or closets at any time.

Swimming Pool

  • Admission may be refused to anyone with skin abrasions, colds, coughs, inflamed eyes, or demonstrating symptoms of infections.
  • Children who cannot swim must be within arms-reach of the parent/guardian while in the water.
  • Children who are not toilet trained must wear appropriate swim diaper covers.
  • All bathers should shower before entering the pool. Parents should remind their children to use the lavatory.
  • Swimmies, life jackets and other safely attached flotation devices are allowed.
  • Use of soft toys is permitted when used safely. Diving toys (rings or sticks) may be used when exercising caution. Small toys that may float into skimmers are prohibited.
  • Rafts and tubes are not allowed except for special occasions. Rafts and tubes are only allowed on “raft days” as communicated by the Club.
  • Noodles are allowed at all times.
  • Ball throwing is allowed under the following circumstances. Pool is not busy. Ball is soft like a nerf ball. Ball may be thrown no more than 20 feet and should not be thrown over others or thrown in a way the ball is likely to leave the water.  The lifeguard has sole authority in evaluating these conditions and warning members when conditions are not met.

Adult Swim

  • Adult swim is principally an opportunity for lifeguards to take a break and perform pool maintenance duties while away from swimming pool observation.  Return from adult swim may be delayed if the swimming pool is not excavated promptly.
  • Children under the age of 18 years shall promptly leave all areas of the swimming pool (including splash pad) after the lifeguard blows the whistle and calls out adult swim and not return until a lifeguard blows the whistle and resumes pool observation.

Splash Pad

  • The splash pad is intended for young children and non-swimmers please be mindful of your activities around them to ensure their safety.
  • Rough housing or dangerous play is not allowed in the splash pad.

Diving Board

  • Use restricted to swimmers skilled enough to jump safely and swim unassisted to the ladder.
  • Only one person is allowed on diving board at a time. The next person must wait until the diver has gone off before climbing onto the board.
  • Upon entering the water, proceed immediately to the nearest ladder. The next diver may go when the swimmer reaches the ladder.
  • No one is allowed more than one bounce per dive off the diving board.

Parking Lot

  • Members shall drive slowly in the driveway and parking area. All bicycles are to be parked in the prescribed area and should not block sidewalks and entrances.

Guests

  • Guests will be admitted only when accompanied by a member of Mountainbrook Club and must leave when the member leaves.
  • Club and guest fees are paid on the member’s account using the prepaid guest passes.
  • The weekday fee is $3.00. The weekend and holiday fee is $5.00.
  • In town guests may visit the Club a maximum of three times per season.
  • Each member is responsible for their guests.
  • Members may bring up to 10 guests per family maximum per day. Over 10 guests must book a party to ensure we have enough lifeguards on staff. If you plan to bring 5-10 guests you must get approval, please email the Club for approval.

Tennis Courts

  • Tennis courts are to be used for official Club events or tennis related activities only.
  • Shirts, shoes, and dry clothes are required.
  • Only Mountainbrook Club Tennis Pros are allowed to give lessons or clinics.
  • Non-tennis activities like wall ball, skateboarding, soccer, and dog training are not permitted.
  • No animals are allowed on the courts.
  • Online court reservations should be made for all tennis court use.
